What it's like to be Black
Kyle Gray
Hold up to be Black is, not being
able to wear a hoodie at night,
it’s making one false move
and ending up on the news
it’s being told you talk white for
being able to articulate your words
Being Black is when you get looked at differently
for being on the rich side of town, being told
that your gonna be taken back to your country
even though you’re from here
it’s losing your job to white counterparts
because they were “more qualified”
Being Black is having to live
in these foul ass neighborhoods
it’s going to schools that
barely get funded, it’s being
asked “can you afford that “
when buying expensive things
it’s being called violent, thieves,
and everything under the sun
That’s what it’s like to be Black.
